Using the creative medium of light painting The Butterfly Fx are working with disengaged young people to create art for the Portsmouth Guildhall. The project is being held at the Guildhall and it will be used as a setting for the images. The project is part of the Strong Voices Program for 2013/14 led by Artswork and supported by the Department for Education (DfE) to connect young people with cultural activities. The project will culminate in a celebratory event and exhibition.
Light painting is an emerging art form which uses various hand-held coloured lights to create innovative images and new ways of looking at familiar objects and places.
It uses the movement of light and long exposure photography to create incredible images and transcends traditional media.
These are some of the first images are created by the young people and are really impressive. We can’t wait to see the amazing ideas will come up with over the coming weeks.
The exhibition will be displayed at the Portsmouth Guildhall on the 13th of March. All are welcome to the event, which will be free.
